I took advantage of this amazing download and found myself reading a play! The story of Amelie's Life and her pursuit to provide a better life for her and her son was deeply moving. As a daughter of a pastor my father's church on occassion had missionaries who would spend time in Africa. Building school's, setting up water stations for clean drinking water and etc. I never found the opportunity to go and serve, but this inspiring story clearly has left me coming full circle to the possiblity. I completed this in just a few sittings. My husband and I recently got a kindle, and well this was one of my first downloads. Amelie is a strong brave soul who illustrated courage and determination. Her plight and burdens are early and unfortunately often. Convincing truth and blazing determination she forged on for a better life! I could not help to think God please rescue her. Full of unfolding tragic circumstance has you silently cheering for her as you page through. I felt, as I was just an innocent bystander so desperate to intervene. This writer provided a bedrock character and a harrowing plot superbly intertwined, until the final lines. The character development can only have me conclude that there are some strong honest stories unfolding vicariously as each crafted person evolves throughout. For me this was an ever constant reminder that Africa for not just a place on the globe, but a land probably filled with far to few Amelie's.Product details

This isn't my usual reading genre, but I enjoyed this story, it was a very good read and lovingly told about a part of the world and an universal problem, we tend to ignore. I strongly suggest you read this play, and you will be enriched.
This book is written from a place of true vision and soul. This story takes you on a world wind of emotions. The determination of one women to see beyond her pain and suffering is totally felt in each of the words throughout this book. Amazing writing and I hope Mito does more of it.
A very tender and moving account of courage and determination. The drama transcends cultural and ethnic boundaries. I read it at one sitting because I was so taken by the humanity of the persons. Thanks Mito. Jim
I would have liked to know the characters better. The screenplay was way too short. Overall, I did like the screenplay.
Great story how Amelie's ends up with this but don't let that stop her from living. I love the stroyline. Great Job enjoyed it!!
Amelie's Drama explores the difficult life choices faced by a young woman from an African village. Throughout the play, Amelie confronts the reality of societal expectations and rigidity, limited opportunity, and most difficult of all, the devastating impact of HIV/AIDS on herself and her family. The work creatively plays on the tension between traditional rural customs and practices and a changing world for Africa's youth, especially women. It is an easy read and provides a fascinating window on the challenges of a society in flux through the eyes of one woman who, in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles, displays inspiring resilience in holding onto and pursuing her dreams.
This short play is the life story of Amelie, a young Nigerian woman stricken with HIV and eventually AIDS. But her story isn't so full of sorrow as the reader might expect. Instead her story weaves an uplifting tale of freedom and self expression. Mito has captured Amelie's joy and love of those around her throughout her life. The honesty and sincerity leaped off the pages and filled me with joy. Please read this beautiful book, you will be so glad you did.
